Privacy Policy
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which BadgeCert Inc. (“BC”) collects, uses, maintains and discloses information collected from Users of its web browser digital badge application. The purpose of this privacy policy is to inform you about what kinds of information BC may gather about you, how we may use that information, whether we disclose it to anyone, and the choices you have regarding our use of the information.

This policy does not pertain to how a BC User may create, issue, publicly share, or view a BC digital badge.  It does not pertain to the privacy policy of 3rd party organizations using BC Products to issue digital badges on behalf of their Earners.

We urge you to read this Privacy Policy so that you will understand both our commitment to you and your privacy, and how you can participate in that commitment.

Definitions
Customer is any organization or individual which has purchased digital badge services from BC.

Issuer is any entity such as an association, corporation, or training organization which is a Customer of BC and may create and issue badges to Earners.

Earner is any individual who has earned a badge from an Issuer. An Earner may select to share his/her digital badges publicly through various channels, including, but not limited to:  social networks, electronic mail, and websites.

Partner is a technology platform provider integrated with BC to securely exchange data on behalf of Issuers.

User is either an Earner or any authorized individual issuing digital badges on behalf of an Issuer.   A User may login to a BC product or use a Partner to create, issue, share, or view a BC digital badge.

Products include, but are not limited to: the BC web browser application.

Web application is an application accessible from a web browser that permits Users to create, issue, share, or view a BC digital badge.

Privacy
Users’ privacy is very important to BC. BC is committed to safeguarding the information Users entrust to BC. BC Products are not directed at children less than 12 years of age.

The Information We Collect
BC may collect various types of personally-identifiable information including name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, and other information that, either alone or in combination with other kinds of information, may personally identify Users. BC may collect personally identifiable information from Users in a variety of ways, including its Products, particularly for the purpose of issuing and sharing digital badges, through online forms for ordering products and services, and other instances where Users are invited to volunteer such information. BC may also collect information about how Users use our Products, for example, by tracking the number of unique views received by the pages of a badge or website and/or the domains from which Users originate.  We may use “cookies” to track how Users use our Products. While not all of the information that we collect from Users is personally identifiable, it may be associated with personally identifiable information that Users provide to us through our Products.

Cookies
When you access our Products via the web, our web server may send a cookie to your computer. Cookies are files that web browsers place on a computer’s hard drive and are used to tell us whether customers and visitors have visited the site previously. Our site may use session cookies containing encrypted information to allow the system to uniquely identify you while you are logged in. This information allows us to process your online data and requests. Session cookies help us make sure you are who you say you are after you have logged in. We use persistent cookies, which only we can read and use, to identify the fact that you are a BC User or prior site visitor. Users who disable their browser’s ability to accept cookies will be able to browse the BC Products but may not be able to successfully use certain enhanced features. We also may from time to time engage third parties to track and analyze non-personally identifiable usage and volume statistical information from visitors to our website to help us administer our website and improve its quality. Such third parties may use cookies to help track visitor behavior. Such cookies will not be used to associate individual website visitors to any personally identifiable information. All data collected by such third parties on our behalf is used only to provide us with information on site usage and is not shared with any other third parties.

It is possible to configure your browser to reject cookies by modifying the browser settings or preferences. If you wish to do so, we recommend you consult the information provided in the browser or contact the browser vendor for help or instructions.

How We Use Information
BC may also use information collected through our Products for research regarding the effectiveness of our Products and to advance the marketing, advertising and sales efforts of BC.   BC will not use personally identifiable information collected through our Products on behalf of its Customers for the purpose of soliciting BC products and/or services offered by BC, its affiliates, independent contractors, and business partners.  BC will not share personally identifiable with 3rd parties unless authorized by a User in the course of using our Products.   BC is not accountable for the privacy policy of 3rd party products for which a data exchange is authorized by a User for the purpose of sharing, issuing, or viewing BC digital badges.

In addition, BC uses information for the following general purposes:

  • to deliver BC digital badge Products;
  • to improve BC Products; and
  • in response to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims.

We limit access to your personally identifiable information to BC employees and contractors who we believe need access in order to deliver Products to you or to do their jobs.

We take the appropriate technical and organizational measures to guard against unauthorized or unlawful processing of your personal data and against accidental loss or destruction of, or damage to, your personal data. While no computer system is completely secure, we believe the measures implemented by our site reduce the likelihood of security problems to a level appropriate to the type of data involved.

Disclosure of Information
We may also disclose aggregate, anonymous data based on information collected from Users and Issuers for the purpose of describing industry trends. We may transfer information collected from Users in connection with a sale of BC’s business. Finally, at times we may be required by law or legal process to disclose your personal information.

Links to Other Sites
This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected by BC Products. Its Products may contain links to other websites and networks that are not owned or controlled by BC. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the terms of use or privacy practices of such other locations. We encourage you to be aware of when you leave our Products and to read the terms of use and privacy statements of each and every other product or website that collects personally identifiable information.

Choice/Opt-Out
You may send email to info@badgecert.hipdev.pro to be removed from any electronic mail, standard mail, social networking contact, messaging service, or other contact list. Please specify from which list you wish to be removed when sending the email.

GDPR
You may send email to info@badgecert.hipdev.pro specifying that you wish to have your profile purged from the platform.  Your profile will be purged within one business day.

Security
The security of your personal information is also important to us. When you enter sensitive information on our subscription forms, we encrypt that information by following generally accepted industry standards and practices to protect the personal information submitted to us from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction, both during transmission and once we receive it.

Maintenance of Information
Information about Users that is maintained on our systems is protected using industry standard security measures. However, we cannot guarantee that the information submitted to, maintained on, or transmitted from our systems will be completely secure.  Likewise, in transmitting data between BC and external Partner systems we seek to use industry standard security measures to secure your data.
